For use to fill the grain/pores of the wood before coating with french
polish, varnish or plastic coating. Certain timbers can have large open
pores, the use of grainfiller minimises sinkage of the coating film
into these pores. Wood must be clean and fine sanded. Mix filler with
white spirit to a thin paste rub hard across the grain with a rag i.E.
opposite to the direction of the grain. Rubbing in the direction of the
grain will drag the filler out. Ensure all pores are filled then wipe
clean, across the grain and leave overnight to harden. If any residue
is left on the surface, lightly sand before coating. If the wood is to
be stained, grainfiller can be mixed with rustin's wood dye. The
resulting colour achieved will be lighter because the wood dye is
diluted, otherwise wood dye can be applied after the grainfiller has
dried.
